At 8am a lady came to bring me down stairs to Dr. Floyds office. We did not expect to hear what we heard.
The ultra sound started and we could see our little guy which was reassuring. I couldn’t tell much about the blood flow because it was hard to see. At this time we still thought we were in for the long haul.
As Seth pushed me back to our room he wanted to go get a smoothie, good thing we didn’t. When we got off the elevator we saw Dr. Floyd and joking we said “you beat us to our room” No joking he said turn around. We knew at this point something was wrong. They moved me into a labor and delivery room and told me what was going to happen. I was so scared but Seth looked as calm and cool as the day I met him and married him.
They had me change back into a robe which I had just been cleared to wear normal clothes the night before so I was bummed. I was shaking and the wait was killing me. I kept pleading with God to keep our little guy safe.
A new IV went in and meds were given and now we had to wait. I developed a rash and found out I am allergic to something in the IV. We found out the blood flow is fast, reverse, fast, reverse which is not what we wanted to see. I was terrified yet Seth was still calm and collected.
Finally around 12:40 it was our turn in the OR. Seth had to wait until I was prepped and I didn’t want him to leave me. I walked myself into the OR and was helped on the bed. I signed up to allow students to assist being the teacher that I am but I don’t think I would do that again. The medicine guy used a ultra sound to find the best placement to put my epidural. I could hear everything they were saying. It was cool. As I was in the OR I kept think how many Doctors and tools there were in the room. Finally I was numb from chest down.
I kept asking for Seth, like they would forget to get him. They told my Mom to stand in the door way of the room and could see the baby as they wheeling him by.
All I could wait for was the cry of my baby boy. I felt tugging and could hear them talking and telling each other what to do but could not really feel anything else
At 1:08pm our little boy, Landon Ray was born and I heard him cry. It was the most amazing sound I have ever heard. I remember asking Seth if that was him. Seth got to see him and take a picture for me. He didn’t need oxygen. He was breathing on his own, Oh GOD is good.
About 30 minutes later which felt like forever I was moved to a recovery room. I heard them staple me which was another very odd moment of this experience. While in recovery I couldn’t stop shaking it was weird not to be able to control my movement. I was trying so hard to move my toes but I just couldn’t
After about 30 minutes in recovery I was wheeled back to my room and was told when I could wiggle my toes I could go see my baby. The Pediatrician came in and told us Landon was doing great which was a blessing. What a miracle God had performed in our little man.
I finally had movement a few hours later and we were able to go down and see our baby.
What a beautiful baby boy!
Happy Birthday Landon, you are the best thing that has happen to us, we love you!
